The Importance Of Accessibility And Lessons Learned Through Mental Health Experiences With Matisse Hamel-Nelis

Today we’re thinking about a lot of different things including accessibility, mental health, and balancing many priorities with Matisse Hamel-Nelis. Matisse is VP of Communications for AbleDocs, and oversees both internal and external communications, partnerships, and conferences. She’s also the Director of Communications for the IABC/Toronto IDEA Committee and the program coordinator of DC’s PR program. An international award-winner, she is best described as a strategic, forward-thinking communicator focused on goal-oriented social PR with accessibility at the forefront.

We talk about why it’s important to focus on accessibility especially as communicators, social media, balancing many roles, her experience with bipolar disorder and eating disorders and what she’s learned, how people are not usually thinking about you as much as you think, the importance of supportive people in your life, and so much more.
